The Milpitas High School varsity football team got off to a rocking start last week to defend its Santa Clara Valley Athletic League De Anza Division title with a 42-0 win over North Salinas High School.

Jon Fulbright scored three touchdowns Friday night, and the Trojans led 21-0 by the end of the first half.

Milpitas scored on its first three possessions of the game.

The Trojan defense also had a great night, as the Vikings weren't allowed past the 20-yard line all game.

"The team played well and it was a great way to start the season," head coach Kelly King said. "North Salinas was last season's Tri-County champion and we looked forward to having a chance to test ourselves."

The Trojans host St. Ignatius College Preparatory of San Francisco tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m.

The Wildcats opened their season with a 29-28 West Catholic Athletic League victory over Marin Catholic High School Saturday night.
