Celebrating National Secretaries Week was the brainchild of Harry F. Klemfuss. His goal was to encourage more people to consider careers in the secretarial/administrative support field.

This unofficial holiday was first proclaimed by U.S. Secretary of Commerce Charles Sawyer in 1952. Today, it is known as "Administrative Professionals Day," and it is celebrated on the Wednesday of the last full week of April. It is always a very special day for the Milpitas Unified School District.

Our school district is so very fortunate to have so many talented and dedicated secretaries, administrative assistants and other support staff who play important roles in the successful operation of the school district. It is they whom the public first sees and interacts with. They are the face and voice of the district. They are versatile multi-taskers who provide invaluable support to our teachers and administrators, staff, students, and parents. They are always willing to go above the call of duty for their school and work sites all these delivered with a smile.

For many years the members of the Milpitas Unified School District Management Association show their appreciation for the fine work of our secretaries and support staff by hosting a gala dinner in their honor. It is our way of saying thank you to them for all the work that they do for us.

On April 23, please join me in paying tribute to our administrative professionals for their important contributions to the success
