Longtime resident David Vazquez passed away Oct. 2, 2008 of natural causes at the age of 84. Mr. Vazquez was born in San Jose, and served in the 8th Army Air Force. He met his wife Doris while in England. They married Nov. 4, 1944 and had four children.

Mr. Vazquez's interests included fishing, football and baseball. The Vazquezes have been in Milpitas since 1947. Mr. Vazquez was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6886.

He is survived by wife Doris, and children Denise Vazquez-Shafik, Delrene Enriquez, David Vazquez and Donna McMannamy. He also leaves eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren: Linda Reddick, Shelby Mauldin, Carla Quintero, Tricia Pulida, Rachelle Abreu, Tina Taylor, Jacob and Andrew Petersen, Chelsie Ramos, Hayley and Anthony, Alajandra and Theodore. Mr. Vazquez is also survived by two brothers, George Vazquez and Sam Vazquez, many sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

The viewing will be at Oak Hill Mortuary in San Jose today (Oct. 9) from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. Gifts in his memory can be sent to 2197 Shiloh Drive, Milpitas, Calif. 95035.
