Milpitas High School's girls tennis team continued its torrid pace Tuesday, winning its contest at Wilcox High School five matches to two and remaining undefeated in league play in the El Camino Division of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League.

Junior Katie Le has managed her high expectations so far, running through her league competition with ease. Le has won all nine of her league matches, and has yet to lose a single set.

"Her matches are usually something like 6-0, 6-2, 6-0," Coach Dong Pham said. "Things have been easy for her. She is the best player in our league."

The team's No. 2 singles player, sophomore Vivian Nguyen, has been nearly as impressive, boasting an 8-1 record in league play.

Pham also praised the play of senior singles player Deana Querubin, and said she has "stepped up really well."

The most pleasant surprise, according to Pham, is the continued development of the Trojans' top doubles team, junior Christine Le and sophomore Danica Reatiraza.

"They are doing very well," Pham said. "They've really improved their game so far."

Milpitas will host Cupertino High School today (Oct. 9) and Mountain View High School on Oct. 14. Both are league contests and begin at 3:30 p.m.

"Those teams have played well, but I don't think they can compete with our players," Pham said. "We are doing really well and I'm confident that we will win the league title."
