Bank robber flees with $3,000 from Citibank

On Monday at about noon, Milpitas Police Department officers responded to an alarm at Citibank at 5 N. Milpitas Blvd.

Officers arrived to find the suspect had fled. Witnesses said a man entered the bank, originally wanting to cash a check, before demanding money. No weapon was seen as bank employees handed over $3,000 to the robber, police said.

The suspect, described as an African-American male in his 20s, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, wearing a blue and white colored shirt, fled westbound on a mountain bike, police said.

Vandalism, theft at Curtner Elementary

On Sept. 30 at about 9:50 p.m., Milpitas police were called to a vandalism report at Curtner Elementary School at 275 Redwood Ave.

Police said witnesses saw two fleeing men smash a 6-foot by 4-foot window with a rock or brick, causing $200 in damage. Arriving officers learned a $700 computer from inside the same room was stolen.

The first suspect was described as a Hispanic male, 16 years old, 6 feet, 2 inches tall, 160 pounds, wearing a gray beanie, a black field jacket, a white shirt and black jeans. The second suspect was described as an African-American male, 16 years old, 5 feet, 7 inches tall, 130 pounds, wearing a zippered black leather jacket, dark jeans and Nike shoes, police said.

$15,000 in power tools stolen on Calaveras

On Sept. 30 at about 8:45 a.m., Milpitas police responded to a residential

burglary on the 2300 block of Calaveras Road.

Police said a 54-year-old Milpitas man discovered $15,000 in miscellaneous power tools had been stolen from a detached garage.

Assault reported on Milpitas High student

On Sept. 29 at about 10:30 a.m., Milpitas police responded to an assault and battery at Milpitas High School.

Police said a 17-year-old Milpitas boy was in class when two other boys in the class began to taunt and pull on a turban he was wearing for religious reasons.

Police said the victim told the other boys, both 15 years old, to stop but one continued to pull on the turban, while the other called the victim names and challenged him to a fight. After class, the victim reported the incident to school administrators, who called police.

One 15-year-old Milpitas boy was cited for assault and battery, while the other suspect was cited for disturbing the peace, police said.

Attempted burglary, vandalism at Rancho

On Sept. 29 at about 7 a.m., Milpitas police responded to an attempted burglary incident at Rancho Milpitas Middle School at 1915 Yellowstone Ave.

Police said the school's principal returned to find his office window, a top drawer in a filing cabinet and closet had all been opened.

No loss was reported.

About an hour later, police learned of vandalism at one of the middle school's classrooms. A teacher found a 3-foot by 4-foot window on the north side of her room shattered.

Damage was estimated at $500.

No suspects are known for the related cases, police said

Honda vandalized on North Main Street

On Sept. 28 at about 3 a.m., a Milpitas police officer discovered a vandalized vehicle parked on the 200 block of North Main Street.

The officer found the rear window of a 2005 Honda CRV shattered, but nothing was missing from the vehicle, police said.

Damage was estimated at $500.

Jackets, sunglasses, poker chips stolen

On Sept. 26 at about 3:30 p.m., Milpitas police responded to an auto burglary outside GreatMall.

Police said 20-year-old San Jose woman returned to her parked 2005 Honda Accord, and found someone had stolen four ladies' black leather jackets valued at $300 each, a $350 pair of Gucci sunglasses, and $100 in poker chips from Garden City Casino in San Jose.
