Three armed robbers who allegedly made off with several hundred dollars from a Milpitas check cashing business in late July and are believed to have committed similar robberies elsewhere have been apprehended, Milpitas Police Department reported.

On July 31 at about 1:12 p.m., a man and woman entered Check Into Cash at 1217 E. Calaveras Blvd. The man brandished a handgun at a clerk, and a woman suspect sprayed the clerk in the face with mace, police said. Another woman entered the business and locked the front door. The three suspects stole money before fleeing the business, police said.

The victim was transported to Regional Medical Center of San Jose for treatment of non-serious injuries.

Later, detectives were able to identify the same suspects related to other robberies in San Jose, Sunnyvale and Fremont.

"It was basically just the method of operation and suspect descriptions that linked them all," Milpitas police Officer Gene Smith said.

On Aug. 18, Milpitas police detectives arrested Rudneshia Nesha Green, 19, at her home in San Jose. Detectives developed information that identified Jhavonte Tyree Carr, 20, and Jashana Nikya Willis, 19, as the remaining suspects in the robberies.

On Aug. 30, San Jose Police Department detectives arrested Carr in San Jose and obtained an arrest warrant for Willis. Two days later, Fresno Police Department officers arrested Willis in that city.
