Sunnyhills Neighborhood Association recently hosted a solar-electric workshop. The presenter addressed concerns and demonstrated that photo-voltaic systems make sense financially (especially as part of a retirement plan), environmentally, and structurally (aesthetics, roofing compatibility, flexible layouts). As a result, several attendees are looking to invest in a photo-voltaic system for their homes.

San Jose-based Horizon Energy Systems (GoSolarNow.com) has offered a $500 discount to Milpitas residents, with the possibility of raising that offer if more than eight families actually invest in PV systems.

Horizon representatives are offering no-cost estimates at your home. To assist them, please track down your kilowatt-hour usage for the past year. You can find that number on your monthly PG&E bill in the Electric Account Detail section under the heading "Usage."
