Dear Editor,

At the March 22 Democracy Café, our round-table discussion focused on two main topics a proposal to provide better Web presence for local candidates and a call for Green Watch.

The proposal calls for display of candidate information on the city's Web site. The response from people who hear about the idea is positive.

One legal concern arose, however, and is being investigated. With any luck, we will be able to use the work we did on the details of the proposal.

One participant urged us to respond to the threat of global warming by taking some action. Another member pointed out that the value of the Democracy CafZ was in providing a place where all viewpoints can come together to discuss the issues of mutual concern. His attitude was "If this cafe turns into an advocacy group, I'm out of here." Others agreed. So the idea of a spin-off group to pursue some sort of activism on energy efficiency was born. Green Watch was accepted as the working title for the group. If you are interested in learning more about or participating in a Green Watch group, contact Arzhang Kalbali (263-2068, alikalbali@yahoo.com).

During the cafe, a few phrases arose that seemed to capture parts of our discussion. They included: "Think globally, act locally." "Screw it, let's do it!" "It's not what you get, it's what you give."

Our next Democracy Café meeting is Saturday, April 5, 2 to 4 p.m. at the Burrito Factory, 52 S. Abel St. If you would
