Dear Editor,

As a longtime resident of this area who attended Berryessa schools, I was proud of the education I received. My elementary school education led me through the right path in life and I would like to see current Berryessa students achieve that same success. That is why I am in full support of Measure W.

Measure W, on the November ballot, is a smart plan for our local schools. Every single penny from Measure W will be spent on schools in Berryessa funds raised by Measure W cannot go to other school districts, administrator salaries, or be taken away by the state. All of the funds will go toward retaining qualified teachers, maintaining reading and math programs, keeping school libraries open, providing hands-on science instruction, updating and expanding classroom technology and funding programs that enhance student achievement. Measure W will ensure students receive a quality education and are ready to succeed in all future educational endeavors. Taxpayer protections are also included there will be a citizens' oversight committee and mandatory annual audits to make sure all funds are spent correctly.

While I encourage everyone to support Measure W, I want to make a specific plea to the people in my age group (18-29), many of whom are voting for the first time this year. Please support Berryessa students. Vote "yes" on W.
