Landmark Tower, an 18-story building proposed at the former Billings Chevrolet dealership on Barber Lane, is under city planning review.

City of Milpitas will hold a public meeting about the planned mixed-use retail and residential project's draft environmental impact report at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 20 at Milpitas City Hall's first-floor committee room, 455 E. Calaveras Blvd.

"We're circulating the environmental document, and we're still under (project) review," Judie Gilli, an associate planner, said.

City reports state the approximately three-acre project site is located at 600 Barber Lane that was formerly Billings Chevrolet, which closed three years ago.

Proposed by San Francisco developer TP Pham LLC, the project is a redevelopment of the site with an 18-story mixed-use building that includes an attached eight-level parking garage, reports state.

The mixed-use building and parking garage is proposed to be about 277 and 115 feet in height, respectively, reports state. The mixed-use building includes 148,805 gross square feet of retail (floors one through three), 48,960 gross square feet of office (floor four) and 375 residential condominium units (floors five to 18).

The project includes amendments to the Milpitas General Plan and zoning map.

Gilli said the project's plans have been under review by the city since its initial submission in November 2006.

the site, including Cisco Systems and Milpitas Square.

After initial review, Gilli said Milpitas Planning Commission will review the project, possibly by early fall, for potential recommendation to Milpitas City Council.

All written comments on the draft environmental report must be submitted to City of Milpitas by June 16, 2008.
